Perimenopause & Menopause Care

Feel like yourself again.

Changes in sleep, energy, mood, weight, libido and how you feel in your own body can begin years before your periods stop. You do not have to simply accept feeling “off” as part of getting older.

At Élan Women's Health, we take the time to understand your symptoms, health history and goals, and develop an individualized plan for this stage of your life.

Hot flashesSudden waves of heat during the day.
Brain fogFeeling less sharp or focused.
Low energyFeeling depleted or unlike yourself.
Mood changesIrritability, anxiety or emotional shifts.

You know your body. When something changes, it deserves a closer look.

Many women arrive knowing that something feels different but unsure whether their symptoms are related to hormones, stress, sleep, thyroid health, iron status, metabolic health or another cause.

Our job is not to assume. It is to listen, evaluate the whole picture and help you understand your options.

Provider-led care

Women's health shouldn't feel rushed.

Meet Dana Veney, FNP-C

I created Élan Women's Health because women deserve thoughtful, individualized care during perimenopause and menopause. Your symptoms, medical history, priorities and preferences all matter.

We will talk about what has changed, what you are experiencing and what you want to improve — not simply look at a number on a lab report. My goal is for you to understand your body, your options and the reasoning behind your treatment plan.

Your care

Your treatment should be as individual as you are.

  • Estrogen therapy
  • Progesterone therapy
  • Vaginal hormone therapy
  • Testosterone, when clinically appropriate
  • Nonhormonal treatment options
  • Sleep, sexual health & metabolic support

Depending on your symptoms, health history, preferences and clinical candidacy, care may include any combination of the options at left.

No single treatment is right for every woman. Recommendations are based on a personalized risk-benefit assessment and shared decision-making.

Beyond hormones

We look beyond hormones.

Symptoms in midlife do not exist in isolation. When appropriate, your evaluation may also consider thyroid health, iron status, metabolic health, cardiovascular risk, sleep, nutrition and other factors that can affect how you feel.

Hormone testing is not used as a stand-alone “score” to diagnose menopause or determine treatment. Testing is ordered when it is clinically useful and interpreted alongside your symptoms and medical history.

Hormone therapy is the most effective treatment for bothersome hot flashes and night sweats, and can also be appropriate for other menopause-related symptoms. Whether it is right for you depends on your age, symptoms, health history, time since menopause, medication history and personal risk factors.

Hormone therapy is not appropriate for everyone. That is why a thoughtful medical evaluation matters. We will discuss expected benefits, potential risks, alternatives and the types and routes of therapy that may be appropriate for you.

FAQs

Common questions

When does perimenopause start?

Perimenopause commonly begins in the 40s, although timing varies. Symptoms and menstrual-cycle changes may begin years before menopause.

Do I need lab tests to know if I am in perimenopause?

Not necessarily. Hormone levels can fluctuate substantially during the menopause transition. Your symptoms, menstrual history, medical history and age often provide more useful clinical context. Testing may be recommended when another condition needs to be evaluated or when it would change treatment decisions.

What is the difference between perimenopause and menopause?

Perimenopause is the transition leading up to menopause. Menopause is reached after 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period when there is no other cause.

Does every woman need hormone therapy?

No. Some women benefit from hormone therapy, some prefer nonhormonal options, and others do not require treatment. Care should be individualized.

What if I have heard that hormone therapy is dangerous?

The benefits and risks depend on the individual woman, the treatment used, route of administration, age, timing and medical history. We will review your personal risk factors rather than applying a one-size-fits-all answer.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Élan Women's Health offers in-person care in Roseville, California, and virtual visits for appropriate patients located in California. Telehealth availability depends on clinical appropriateness and applicable licensure requirements.

You don't have to figure this out alone.

If you have noticed changes in your sleep, cycles, energy, mood, sexual health or overall sense of well-being, let's talk about what may be happening and what options are available.
